Chef David Codney creates dreamy menu for dineLA at the beautiful Belvedere at the Peninsula Beverly Hills

A  fabulous three-course feast for $49 a person

Patti & Richard Pietschmann's first fork report

What a way to kick-off dineLA than on a balmy evening seated in the inviting garden patio of the posh Peninsula Beverly Hills' award-winning Belvedere Restaurant. Last night was the beginning of the twice-yearly LA Tourism and Convention Board foodie fest where top area chefs create affordable taste-tempting price-fixed menus at some of LA's finest. The  two-week event  goes through July 28.

As we do every time, we checked out the menus on the dineLA website and were immediately drawn to Chef David's $49 a person offering at the Belvedere.  This is about half the price of the same dishes on the regular menu. How could one resist these choices:

We started with Champagne for the Diva  and a perfect martini for Richard

Next up was a tangy, tasty beef tartar with Aioli, shallot on grilled sourdough.

And the charred Caesar crispy Brussels sprouts and kale salad that I had before and love so much that is perfectly tossed in a  white anchovy-lemon dressing.

Although you only get one choice from each course, Chef send over this chilled and wonderful pea soup with creme fraiche that went down well and fast.

He also treated us to this  amazing veal

And this big, beautiful ball of cauliflower
I ordered this delicious, flaky Mediterranean Meagre fish that came with sublime spinach salsa verde, string beans and endive
Richard had the Gulf shrimp confit with Heirloom tomatoes and Apollo olive oil and love it
Divine desserts

It pays to know the chef. David sent over the trio of desserts on the dineLA menu:
This  decadently-divine flourless chocolate cake
A celestial coconut mousse dill with almond and champagne

A red velvet with  strawberry, balsaimi and olive oil, so creative and sinfully tasty

Hungry now? Appetite whetted? Book your dineLA table at the Belvedere and other top LA eateries here. You have through July 28 to dine like a rock star for less.
